About the federation

Registered trust No. 523/IV 2024 Government of Uttarakhand

Utkarsh Sports Federation is a trust registered with the Government of Uttarakhand (registration no. 523/IV 2024), and is the body under whose name our tournaments in Haridwar are organised. Its purpose is a simple one: to give young players in and around Haridwar regular, properly run competition close to home — with fair pairings, a published result, and a certificate for everyone who takes part.

The federation runs the Monthly Open, an open chess tournament held in age categories Under 10, Under 14 and Under 18. Boys and girls compete in the same section, which is how children learn most, and the top three of each are awarded separately at the prize distribution so that every player has something to aim at.

Tournaments are held with the support of Victory Classes, who provide the venue and the organising help, and Shatranj Chess Club, Haridwar, whose coaches and arbiters run the play.
